The Golden Globe Awards

The 2008 movie awards season starts on January 13 with the Golden Globe Awards. Seen by many as a preview of who might eventually win an Oscar a month or so later, the GGs are, however, a bit different from the Academy Awards: movies and performances are divided into two main categories - drama and musical/comedy - and TV productions are also contemplated. Controversial films

Politics, sex and religion are topics that are bound to raise more than a few eyebrows every now and then. Hollywood knows that all too well, so the decision to produce a controversial film is often a difficult one. Of course, controversy sells, but there seems to be a delicate balance between how one should deal with a controversial theme without enraging some specific groups.
